Central Crossing was the renovation of 36 units for the St. James Parish Housing Authority. The redevelopment received the first RAD Public Housing Operating Subsidy for the SJPHA. The project included renovation of blighted units that had been uninhabited for over 2 decades. Central Crossing was awarded an allocation of tax credits in 2016.
The funding for this redevelopment included leveraging investor equity from R4 Capital, state CDBG Funds, an AHP grant and a permanent loan. Central Crossing not only addressed severe deteriorating physical conditions, but it created much needed affordable housing for the rural community of Convent, Louisiana. A comprehensive relocation plan was developed to ensure existing residents were able to return to their new homes in less than 6 months.
